1. Chapter: Lodge Amani |
As in 2006 wie visited the Lodge Amani, which is situated
at 2100m height on the copper mountain pass. The former observatory Capella Observatory
is now rebuilt to lodgings in which we were accomodated. From the Lodge one has a fantastic view, in the north to Windhoek and in the south up to the Gamsberg.
Amani has several game reserves, one for lions, one for cheetahs and one for leopards. During a round trip we visited all of the reserves.

The lodgings at Amani are chalets on the southern slope with view at the lion's enclosure on the neighbouring hill and the Gamsberg at the horizon.
The meals were served in a glazed Lapa which offers a very elegant ambience like the whole Lodge.

2. Chapter: Guest farm Tivoli |
After the breakfast we drove from Amani to our goal for next two weeks, the Guest farm Tivoli.
When we arrived it was a big surprise when I saw the familiar faces of astronomers I met there two years ago.
As in 2006 I rented the observatory with the C11 on an Atlux-mount. There I planned to take images with my Pentax SDHF 75 and to use the C11 as guiding scope.

During the two weeks the weather was fine, so I was able to take many images of the fantastic deep sky objects of the southern sky.
My companion Elmar Rixen has rented the Edwin Hubble Observatory, where we took videos of Jupiter with his new DMK videocamera.
In the daytime I often made a quick processing of my images shot the night before. Once I visited the "neighbouring farm" Kiripotib
approx. 20 km away). At Kiripotib local employees process and color wool and weave carpets of the wool.
One of the carpets is now situated in front of my bed.
As in 2006 the holiday was fine, succesful but also a bit exhausting.
